Genesis notes

Genesis, one of the greatest bands in the world have had many talented members, together and individually from the late sixties to the beginning of the 21st century they have built up an incredible catalogue of recordings, nearly every genre of music is represented here.

As with great painters, Genesis have had 3 distinct 'periods' all centered on the lead singer, the first (1967-1975) were the Peter Gabriel years, the second, (1976-1996) were the Phil Collins years, and the third and most recent (1997-2000) were the Ray Wilson years, but things have been much busier than that, as shown below.

These dates are (for the most part) UK release dates of all the albums released by full Genesis and solo members past and present, all these records listed have seen a compact disc release except Tony Banks The Wicked Lady Soundtrack (which was slated for a UK release in 2001 or 2002 but didn't appear), Ark II by Flaming Youth (which supposedly saw a 2001 special edition CD release), and Harvest Of The Heart by Anthony Phillips (all tracks off this have seen releases on various AP CDs).

Most images are 72dpi and 50% sized - (d) means double cd and the number after the artist represent the number of albums released by that name, with so many releases here there are bound to be mistakes so e-mail me, and I will correct them. Now delve into the wonderful world of Genesis....

2006 update: Genesis Convention held, good fun and maybe an indication of a further resurgance in the band and its members. Also this year are more solid signs of a possible Genesis event, who would have believed it eh?

2004 update: The 21st of January saw the premiere of a Genesis lazershow in Munich, Germany with Tony, Mike, Tony Smith and Nick Davis in attendance. Tony Banks releases his first classical album 'Seven'

2003 update: Peter Gabriel enbarked on a major world tour and PC announces plans for his own final world tour - Genesis fandom saw a quantum leap in the form of an online database for every Genesis show thanks to the efforts of www.genesisthemovement.org?

2002 update: There has been much ancipipation of a new collectors club on the official website, but 2 other groups of fans (The Hogweed Project and the FADE project) have produced the first of some excellent enhanced copies of Genesis concerts, these are non profit making CD-R copies which are distributed for-fans-by-fans. In early April the 3rd Genesis weekend will take place at The Limelight Club in Crewe, although it is not organised by the same group that did G99 and G2 it featured Ray Wilson who played an enjoyable set.

2001 update: Things are still quiet on the Genesis front with no new album releases from any members since November 2000, but Genesis activity is apparent elsewhere: Several magazines of late (Late February) have had Genesis as cover features, Genesis tribute bands are doing better than ever noteably 'Re-Genesis' who along with other tribute bands are appearing at the second Genesis Convention at the end of March 2001. July 2001 Update: The 2nd UK Genesis Convention (G2) was a even bigger hit. The Official Website is no longer operative. There are also rumours of Collins/Banks and Rutherford playing and/or recording together. Tony is reputed to be hard at work on a follow up to Strictly Inc. and composing classical music.

2000 update:As we move into the year 2000 things look distinctly quiet on the Genesis front, there were plans for a one off gig at Wembley Stadium/Arena (England U.K.) in mid 2000 to say farewell to Wembley not Genesis (!) but this never got off the ground. Individual band members are still hard at work, but at the same time have not released too many new material albums, who knows perhaps they are all working towards something BIG for the future ! In September Phil, Tony, Mike and Daryl performed a short set in honour of their manager Tony Smith. This year also saw a new Official website: http://genesis.m3w.com

1999 update: The first UK Genesis Convention (G99), despite a troubled lead up was a big success.
